Hydrotherapy
SPA (sanus per aquam) healing through water
The skin, similarly to the body is in 60-70% composed of water. The basic method providing the skin with proper moisture is simply drinking water. Our individual demand for water depends on many factors: weight, nutrition, type of work, age and the climate we live in. On the average the body requires approximately 2.5 liters of water per day. Cellulite – body imperfections that so many women struggle with – is an example of how important drinking water really is. One of the basic causes is retention of waste products from metabolism in the subcutaneous fatty tissue and lymphatic swelling.
HYDRO THERAPY (healing with water) is an impulse treatment method consisting in external application of water. The basis of the medicinal effect is the water temperature and the pressure used accordingly to the type of therapy. Hydro Therapy has been in use for ages as a form of eliminating stress and treatment.
Hydro Therapy is based on 3 simple elements;
- heat
- submergence
- hydro massage
- The heat expands the blood vessels and speeds up blood circulation in the body, makes it easy for the cells to get rid of the residues of metabolism.
- The body is being treated with hydro massage and it enjoys the benefits to its systems: bones, muscles and circulation. Water streams are directed to appropriate places, they stimulate and relax.
- The massage leads to the improvement of elasticity, circulation and provides general health benefits.
Hydro therapy is a unrivalled method of eliminating stress and other stress-related factors, such as: headaches, high pressure. Increased circulation caused by hydro massage facilitates the digestive processes and the remains and residues from metabolism are eliminated at a faster rate. Lymph flow to the lymphatic glands is easier, which at the same time strengthens our immunological system.
We recommend the following treatments;
- Full or partial baths,- pearl, oxygen baths
- aromatic baths,
- underwater massage – a treatment with the use of high water stream pressure.
Manual underwater massage
This is the most powerful method of mechanic massage and stimulation of the body. The high hydrostatic pressure with a simultaneous massage results in the increase of congestion and greater rejection of unneeded substances, which generates very good effects when fighting cellulite. Strong application of the water stream results in “fracturing” and stimulating the fatty tissue to combustion. The underwater massage is very well tolerated, as it is performed in the condition of maximum relaxation (warm water). Short bath in water of increased temperature results in improved blood flow through expansion of blood vessels. When the blood circulates faster it drains the harmful substances and cleanses the internal organs, at the same nourishing them and improving metabolism.
The underwater massage is recommended in both rehabilitation and sports. It is advisable after physical activity in order to drain the lactic acid from the muscles (the so-called muscle sores) and before workout, in order to prepare and warm up the muscles. The beneficial effect of warm water is perceptible mainly in peripheral joints and spine joints. It results in increase in the scope of movement and eliminates stiffness.
The underwater massage has a strong effect of smoothing the unevenness of skin, with a simultaneous peel of the entire body. It can be combined with specialized treatments offered by Sothys.
